As you progress as a diver, our SAC log sheets help you monitor how well you are doing. Keep an eye on why your air consumption spiked on a particular dive or spot trends that make you use less air.

Surface Air Consumption is a very useful way to measure how well you are doing as a diver. There are no targets, as everyone is different and one persons optimum SAC rate may be higher than someone elses. However, monitoring your own consumption over your dives can be illuminating and really help you improve.

Each refill pack contains 8 log sheets with space for 144 dives. You also get a copy of the DiveLogs SAC calculation chart in both metric and imperial formats, an easy to use way to calculate your SAC without having to get out a calculator!

Available for Standard 3-ring binders (such as the PADI Adventure log) at 140mm wide by 203mm high (5 1/2 inches wide by 8 inches high), our own DiveLogs 6-ring binder at 118mm wide by 188 mm high (4 5/8 inches wide by 7 3/8 inches high), and 6-ring Personal Organisers at 96mm wide by 172mm high (3 3/4 inches wide by 6 3/4 inches high). More info on the page sizes can be found here.

Optional upgrades include full colour printing and Rite in the Rain paper option to get a totally water repellant log book page (more info on this here).

More on SAC Calculations:

Following is a summary on Surface air Consumption, for more detail and background please check out this info page.

We calculate a surface air consumption rate because we breath more gas at deeper depths. By converting it to an equivalent rate as if we were on the surface we can now compare between dives. The calculations to do this are straight forward but a little complex if you don't have a calculator and a piece of paper handy.

This is why we took the calculations and converted them into a set of easy to use graphs that mean finding your SAC rate takes just a few seconds! Let's do an example for a typical dive. You used 140 bar over 30 minutes at an average depth of 18 meters, and you were diving with a 12 litre cylinder:

This chart is copyright Dive-Logs - no unauthorised duplication.

As you can see above, all you do is follow the lines! First take your air consumption and go down until you hit the dive time. Then go left or right depending on your tank size. Stop when you hit your average depth. Then go down to read off your SAC rate.

The above is the combined units chart that is engraved on our placeholders. In each SAC refill pack you get a copy of this chart included but it is broken down into metric and imperial versions for ease of calculation.
